Message from the 1999-2000 National President. It has been a rewarding and revealing year serving as your National President. Among the most rewarding aspects have been my visits to many chapter training activities. I was always met by people enthusiastic about their jobs in particular and government service in general. We have had a successful year. The downward trend of membership has been reversed. We had approximately forty local training activities, culminating in an outstanding national PDI in Philadelphia. One of the major successes of the year was the inauguration of a professional certification program. The Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) Program arrived on schedule on May 15. This examination-based certification will provide a new standard of excellence for the workforce. Although these accomplishments and the many daily successes you achieve are worthy of mention, I still contend that the upbeat and positive attitude of the workforce is our greatest strength. I encourage everyone in a leadership position to foster that attitude. I extend a special thank-you to LTG McCall, our Executive Director, for his continuing direction and boundless energy on behalf of the Society. My best wishes to Bill Campbell and the incoming leadership. They inherit a train that is firmly on the track and moving forward. Helen McCoy |
