at the James L. Knight center James L. Knight Center is a 4,686-seat concert hall and theatre in Miami Florida. It is named in memory of James Landon Knight, the newspaper publisher whose businesses included The Miami Herald. It is part of the Miami Convention Center. this Friday, Oct. 29.Media members are welcome to attend the sessions at Ashe Auditorium. The conference should provoke thought and inspire story ideas. Class members have often used the occasion for sharp, penetrating questions. An agenda for conference events is attached. Photo opportunities will be available. Mr. Stierheim's address will begin at 11 a.m., and questions are encouraged. His address will directly precede a noon luncheon and three-way charter amendment debate moderated by political writer Jim DeFede of the New Times. The charter change, which would change the relative power of the mayor and the city commission, is scheduled to come to a city-wide vote Tuesday, Nov. 2.
