Crum & Forster Underwriters Company of Ohio, Cincinnati, merged into United States Fire Insurance Co. on July 1.

Davison Farm Mutual Insurance Company of South Dakota, Mitchell, S.D., merged into Mutual Fire & Storm Insurance Co., Burlington, Iowa, on Jan. 1.

Harleysville-Garden State Insurance Co., Harleysville. Pa., merged into Harleysville Mutual Insurance Co. through assumption reinsurance on May 1.

Kemper Indemnity Insurance Co., Long Grove, Ill., along with Pacific Eagle Insurance Co. and Kemper Surplus Lines Insurance Co., merged into American Motorists Insurance Co. on Aug. 31.

Kemper Surplus Lines Insurance Co., Long Grove, Ill., along with Pacific Eagle Insurance Co. and Kemper Indemnity Insurance Co., merged into American Motorists Insurance Co. on Aug. 31.

Nichido Fire & Marine Insurance Co. Ltd. (U.S. Branch), New York, domesticated in New York from Japan and was licensed as TNUS Insurance Co. All assets and liabilities of the branch were transferred to the newly licensed company through a domestication agreement and a transfer and assumption agreement on July 1.

Pacific Eagle Insurance Co., Orange, Calif., along with Kemper Surplus Lines Insurance Co., and Kemper Indemnity Insurance Co., merged into American Motorists Insurance Co. on Aug. 31.

Radian Reinsurance Inc., New York, merged with and into Radian Asset Assurance Inc. on June 1.

St. Paul Cos., St. Paul, Minn., completed the merger combining St. Paul Cos. and Travelers Property Casualty Corp., now known as St. Paul Travelers Cos., effective April 1.

St. Paul Insurance Company of North Dakota, Bismarck, N.D., merged into St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co., effective Jan. 1.

TIG Insurance Company of New York, New York, merged into its parent, TIG Insurance Co. on Jan. 16.

West Newbury Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Dedham, Mass., merged into Dorchester Mutual Insurance Co., effective Jan. 1.

Name Changes

Ace Guaranty Corp., Baltimore, changed its name to Assured Guaranty Corp., effective March 23.

American Pioneer Title Insurance Co., Casselberry, Fla., changed its name to Ticor Title Insurance Company of Florida, effective Sept. 14.

Arkwright Insurance Co., Waltham, Mass., changed its name to Coface North America Insurance Co. after being sold as a shell to Coface North America Inc. in 2003, effective Jan. 29.

Associates Insurance Co., South Bend, Ind., changed its name to Commercial Guaranty Casualty Insurance

Notes:

Crum National Insurance Inc., Clearwater, Fla., changed its name to Frank Winston Crum Insurance Inc., effective March 2.

DeSoto Prime Insurance Co., Gainesville, Fla,, changed its name to Tower Hill Prime Insurance Co. in February.

Fidelity National Property & Casualty Insurance Inc., New York, changed its name to Fidelity National Property & Casualty Insurance Co. on Jan. 22.

Fremont Mutual Insurance Co., Fremont, Mich., demutualized and changed its name to Fremont Insurance Co. on Oct. 15.

General Assurance Co., Melville, N.Y., changed its name to AutoOne Insurance Co., effective Jan. 9.

Gerling Global Reinsurance Corp. (U.S. Branch), New York, changed its name to Global Reinsurance Corp. U.S. Branch on May 12.

Golden Isles Insurance Co., Duluth, Ga., changed its name to Maxum Casualty Insurance Co., effective Sept. 24.

Le Mars Mutual Insurance Company of Iowa, Le Mars, Iowa, converted to a stock company and was acquired by Donegal

Montgomery Ward Insurance Co., Schaumburg, Ill., changed its name to Heritage Casualty Insurance Co., effective April 1.

Sierra Insurance Company of Texas, Dallas, changed its name to Cortlandt Insurance Co. on Aug. 17.

Specialty Risk Insurance Co., Mayfield Village, Ohio, changed its name to Progressive Choice Insurance Co. on Aug. 9.

Specialty Underwriters Insurance Co., Chicago, changed its name to SUA Insurance Co. on Nov. 23, subsequent to the company being acquired as a shell from OneBeacon Insurance Co.

State National Specialty Insurance Co., Forth Worth, Texas, changed its name to National Specialty Insurance Co., effective March 16.

The Tokio Marine & Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (USB), New York, changed its name to Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (U.S. Branch) on Oct. 1.

Travelers Casualty & Surety Company of Illinois, Hartford, Conn., changed its name to Travelers Casualty Insurance Company of America, effective Jan. 1.

Delphi Casualty Co., Des Plaines, Ill., was incorporated in Illinois Jan. 6 and commenced business on Feb. 3.

Houston General Insurance Exchange, Austin, Texas, received its Certificate of Authority from the Texas Insurance Commissioner on May 28.

Independence Casualty Insurance Co., Boston, was incorporated in Massachusetts May 7 and commenced business on June 20.

Lancer Casualty Co., West Trenton, N.J. was incorporated in New Jersey Nov. 4 and commenced business on Nov. 22.

Mapfre Reinsurance Corporation Canada Branch, Toronto, received its license to operate as a reinsurer in Canada on Dec. 14.

Republic Risk Retention Group, North Charleston, S.C., was incorporated in South Carolina May 21 and commenced business on July 1.

Wellington Specialty Insurance Co., Scottsdale, Ariz., began operations in the state of Arizona on Nov. 22.

WestGuard Insurance Co., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was incorporated in Pennsylvania Feb. 10, 2003, and commenced business July 16, 2004.
