MergeOptics Extends its X2 Product Line and Announces Immediate Availability of the X2 ER and SR MSA Compliant Modules; Distinguishing Itself as the Only Supplier to Offer the Complete Product Range.


BERLIN -- MergeOptics, GmbH a leading supplier of highly integrated, low power fiber optic components and subsystems, announced today availability of the X2 SR and X2 ER products, providing customers with the most comprehensive range of X2 modules available from a single supplier. The complete X2 range includes the SR, ER, LR, and LX4 modules. All products are in full production and available for immediate delivery from stock.

MergeOptics is the only supplier to offer a complete range of X2 products. The product family includes the following versions; X2 SR for links up to 300m in new Multi-Mode Fiber See multimode fiber.  (MMF See multimode fiber. ), LR for 10Km links in Single-Mode Fiber See singlemode fiber.  (SMF (1) (Standard Messaging Format) An electronic mail format for Novell's MHS messaging system. The application puts the data into this format in order to send an e-mail message. ), ER for 40Km links and LX4 for 300m links in legacy Multi-Mode Fiber and 10Km links in Single-Mode Fiber.

MergeOptics products are environmentally responsible, and fully compliant with the EU-RoHS (EU restriction of hazardous substances) requirements.

The initial introduction of MergeOptics X2 products included the LR version which has been shipping into customer sites for over a year, and more recently the X2 LX4 version. LX4 is the only proven 10GbE standard that exists for 300m installed legacy MMF, providing the ability to increase data transmission rates from 1Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  to10 Gigabit Ethernet over the existing fiber infrastructure.

MergeOptics X2 products are standards based and fully compliant to the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802.3ae standard for 10Gbit/ethernet.
