Meredith Names Steven Cappaert Corporate Controller.

Meredith Corporation , America's leading home and family media and marketing company, today named Steven M. Cappaert Corporate Controller, effective June 23.

Cappaert brings nearly 20 years of accounting, auditing and senior financial management to the position. Most recently, he spent two years as Senior Vice President and Controller for United Stationers Inc. of Des Plaines, IL, the nation's largest wholesale distributor of business products with annual sales of $3.7 billion. Prior to that, Cappaert spent six years as a senior manager in the Chicago office of Ernst & Young and four years as a senior internal auditor for Fortune Brands, Inc. of Lincolnshire, IL.

A Certified Public Accountant, Cappaert earned a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1989. He also holds a Master's of Accountancy degree, with distinction (1984), and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Commerce, summa cum laude (1983), from DePaul University in Chicago. Cappaert is the president of the DePaul University Accounting Alumni Association.

Cappaert and his wife, Barbara, have two children. They will be relocating from Chicago to Des Moines.
