Mercury Air's Maytag Aircraft Names Silva President.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2000

Mercury Air Group, Inc. (AMEX/PCX: MAX) announced today that, effective immediately, William L. Silva has been named President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
 of Maytag Aircraft Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock.

 of Mercury Air Group, Inc. Silva will continue to serve as Executive Vice President of Mercury Air Group, Inc., the parent company.

Employed by Maytag Aircraft Corporation since 1982, Silva served as Executive Vice President of Maytag Aircraft Corporation from 1992 until this appointment, as Vice President from 1987 to 1992 and Director of Operations from 1982 to 1987. Mercury Air Group, Inc. acquired Maytag Aircraft Corporation in 1984.

Silva is a retired U.S. Navy Commander and Supply Officer with 22 years of U.S., Pacific and European logistics management experience with specialties in fuels, aviation and shipboard supply management. A graduate of the University of New Mexico The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public university in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was founded in 1889. It also offers multiple bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs in all areas of the arts, sciences, and engineering.  in Albuquerque and the U.S. Naval Officer NAVAL OFFICER. The name of an officer of the United States, whose duties are prescribed by various acts of congress.
