Mentat Announces the Release of Mentat TCP 4.0; High-Performance TCP/IP Now Includes IPv6 and IPSec Functionality.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1998--Mentat Inc. Monday announced the release of Mentat TCP 4.0, the latest version of Mentat's industry-leading TCP/IP stack.

The new release adds leading-edge functionality including IPv6 and Internet Security (IPSec) to the already feature-rich code.

Mentat TCP, known for its unrivaled performance, is a portable, STREAMS-based implementation of the TCP/IP protocol suite. "Mentat TCP 4.0 continues Mentat's tradition of offering the most full-featured, high-performance implementation of TCP/IP available," said Kay Guyer, president of Mentat. "As the Internet evolves, Mentat will continue to lead the way in providing the latest functionality."

Both IPv6 and IPSec are much-needed additions to TCP/IP. IPv6 is the next generation of Internet Protocol (IP), expanding Internet addressing to allow for the continued growth of the Internet while making changes to improve efficiency and add critical new functionality. IPSec is a security architecture for providing end-to- end encryption and authentication for data traveling over computer networks.

Both IPv6 and IPSec are specifications developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Mentat was a pioneer in the development of IPv6 and demonstrated prototypes of IPv6 on multiple operating systems as early as 1995.
