Mendocino Brewing Company Announces Frolic Shipwreck Ale.

In commemoration of this historic event, Mendocino Brewing Company Mendocino Brewing Company, founded in 1983 as the Hopland Brewery in Hopland, California, is a brewery currently located in Ukiah, Mendocino County, California. Brewed in the Scottish Ale style, Frolic Shipwreck Ale is more malty and less dry than Red Tail Ale. Frolic is a well-balanced brew that has a starting sugar content of 15.8% and a residual sugar Residual sugar (or RS) is the measure of the amount of sugars that remain unfermented in the finished wine.

Residual sugar is usually measured in grams of sugar per litre of wine.
 content of 4.5%. It is a medium bodied, deep copper colored ale brewed in a traditional, natural manner, using imported English malted barley and the English hops, Goldings and Fuggles. The use of these hops gives the ale the classic English hop aromas that result in earthy, woody overtones.

Twenty-seven percent of the malted barley used is Caramel and Carastan. These malts produce distinct caramel/toffee flavors and a slight nutty characteristic that stay on the pallet until the next sip. The finish is slightly dry, reminiscent of all of Mendocino Brewing Company's ales. The distinct flavors and aromas of the imported barley malt and hops, combined with Mendocino Brewing Company's unique brewing process, make Frolic Shipwreck Ale a piece of Mendocino County history not to be missed.
