Memorial service set at UO.

A memorial service to commemorate the events at Virginia Tech will be held today at noon on the University of Oregon campus The University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon has around 80 buildings and facilities, including athletics sites such as Hayward Field, which is the site for the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trials, and McArthur Court, and off-campus sites such as nearby Autzen Stadium and the .

The service, which will include a candle-lighting ceremony, music and the presentation of the colors, will take place at the amphitheater amphitheater (ăm`fəthē'ətər, ăm`pə–), open structure used for the exhibition of gladiatorial contests, struggles of wild beasts, sham sea battles, and similar spectacles.  at the Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave.

Thirty-three candles - one for each of those who died during Monday's shooting - will be lighted and will remain burning for 24 hours Adv. 1. for 24 hours - without stopping; "she worked around the clock"

At noon Friday, the university will observe a moment of silence followed by the ringing of the carillon carillon, in music: see bell.
