Memorial fund established to battle disease that claims life Sun & Moon founder's child.

Mallory Morgan Staples lived a brief, brave life. Born four months prematurely on November 17, 1999 to Sun & Moon founder, principal and creative director Chris Staples and her husband Doug, she overcame obstacles at a tender age that most of us never face in a far longer lifetime.

She was named for her heritage and to give her strength. Mallory is Chris' maiden name maiden name

, and was bestowed upon her daughter so that she would carry with her maternal roots. Morgan was for strength, a name her parents hoped would help her battle for life. And Staples, of course, her link to her father's heritage.

For a bit over two weeks, she overcame a long series of disorders which afflict af·flict

Modern medicine has provided many miracles for preemies, but unfortunately no cure yet for NEC. To honor Mallory's memory, and to hopefully prevent other parents from enduring Chris' and Doug's pain, a memorial fund has been established through the March of Dimes

Should you wish to contribute, please send donations to: Ms. Carole Portale, March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605. It is hard to imagine that life can hold greater devastation than the loss of a child. All of us at Sun & Moon and Real Estate Weekly thank you for your concern and support.
