Dear Mr. Smith:

This is to acknowledge and thank you for your letter. I appreciate your bringing this matter to my attention.

I receive many requests for assistance due to my position as Senate Majority Leader. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of requests and limited staff available, I must limit such assistance to my constituents in Mississippi. It is a matter of protocol in the Senate that we defer such requests to the Senators from the person's home state. Therefore, because you are a resident of California, I believe this matter will be more appropriately addressed by your United States Senators. I would suggest that you contact the Honorable Dianne Feinstein Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein (born June 22, 1933) is the senior U.S. Senator from California, having held office as a senator since 1992. She is a member of the Democratic Party.  and the Honorable Judd Smith.

Again, thank you for your letter. With kind regards and best wishes, I am
