State League leaders, big city Leagues, capital city Leagues and Inter-League Organizations (ILOs) will be treated to lively, interesting sessions at the LWVUS LWVUS League of Women Voters of the United States  Council, entitled "Engaging Your Community," in Washington, DC, June 11-13. Weekly newsmagazine published in Washington, D.C. U.S. News was founded in 1933 by David Lawrence (1888–1973) to cover important domestic events; he founded World Report in 1945 to treat world news. The two magazines were merged in 1948.

The kick-off session on Saturday, June 11, "A 360[degrees] View of the League: Using Issues to Engage your Community and Build your League," is a multi-faceted, interactive training designed to help Leagues maximize their efforts, focusing on the interrelatedness in·ter·re·late

 of visibility, fundraising and membership. The emphasis will be on supporting our multi-issue organization under a more focused umbrella that resonates with the public perception of the League.

Council will also offer sessions on civil liberties and homeland security, election reform in the states and democracy in the global community. Materials from these sessions will be available in the Members Section of the LWVUS Web site.
