Team members join impressive lineup of UAE stars at summer educational entertainment event
Members of the UAE National Football Team will make a guest appearance at the Summer In Abu Dhabi family festival, the highly-anticipated event set to showcase the best in educational entertainment for children and families. The eight-week summer extravaganza will run from June 26, 2008 to August 18, 2008 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The event will feature seven uniquely-themed islands housed inside 13,000 square metres of indoor air-conditioned space at ADNEC.
Summer in Abu Dhabi organisers Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority have lined up several other high-profile guest appearances for the festival, including Thani Al Qamzi, UAE speedboat champion and Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) F1 Powerboat World Championship contender.
"We expect our famous guests and our exciting activities to establish Summer in Abu Dhabi as a much-awaited local and international annual event. We aim to provide only the best in educational entertainment while presenting Abu Dhabi as a family-friendly travel destination; we welcome people of all nationalities and all walks of life to experience a truly magical summer and a defining moment for the UAE's hot season. We especially call on all the fans of the National Football Team to come on over and have a rare up-close-and-personal encounter with their idols," commented Faisal Al Sheikh, ADTA Head of Events Section.
Summer in Abu Dhabi visitors will be able to explore the seven magical islands of Summer in Abu Dhabi, which are Discovery; Imagination; Adventure; Fun; Creativity; Action; and Heritage & Culture. These islands will headlined by an award-winning international animatronic exhibition; an undercover agent role-playing educational exhibition sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Police; an ultra-violet puppet show; and a special fully interactive three-dimensional animated character. Various other unique and traditional family-oriented activities balancing educational and entertainment elements will also be featured.
The UAE National Football Team, which made its World Cup debut in 1990 and is presently managed by the United Arab Emirates Football Association, won its first-ever Gulf Cup in 2007. Dubai Holding recently launched a new Arabic website, www.dhfootball.com, featuring the football team which includes team rosters; news; a calendar of events; and profiles of individual players. The Team members are looking forward to the 2009 and 2010 editions of the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup, both of which will be hosted by the UAE for the first time.
