Selection Recognizes Mellanox's Innovations in the

InfiniBand Architecture Initiative

Mellanox(TM) Technologies Ltd., the leading supplier of InfiniBand(SM) semiconductors, announced today its election as a sponsoring member of the InfiniBand Trade Association The InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) is the standards organization that defines and maintains the InfiniBand specification. It is an industry consortium.

The IBTA was established in 1999, and its most prominent members include Cisco, IBM, Intel, Mellanox, QLogic, Sun and

). As a sponsoring member of the IBTA, Mellanox looks forward to playing a greater role in driving the efforts for the deployment of the InfiniBand architecture in the data center.

The InfiniBand Trade Association is comprised of more than 180 companies dedicated to delivering InfiniBand channel-based, switched fabric technology that reduces IT costs and increases performance by enabling clustering, communication and storage traffic over a common high performance, highly available and low latency Low latency allows human-unnoticeable delays between an input being processed and the corresponding output providing real time characteristics. This can be especially important for internet connections utilizing services such as online gaming and VOIP - VOIP is not as important as  interconnect (1) To attach one device to another.

Mellanox Technologies has delivered multiple generations of innovative InfiniBand switch and channel adapter A device that allows one system to connect to and work with another. An adapter is often a simple circuit that converts one set of signals to another; however, the term often refers to devices which are more accurately called "controllers.  silicon technology to the data center market. Mellanox has been shipping 10Gb/s InfiniBridge(TM) channel adapters and switches since January 2001, and began shipping its second-generation InfiniScale(TM) switch in October 2001. InfiniScale is an eight-port 4X (10Gb/s) switch and the first available device with an integrated physical layer.

Mellanox products are designed to improve performance and reduce IT costs in enterprise and Internet data centers while enhancing reliability, availability, serviceability (system, design, hardware, software) Reliability, Availability, Serviceability - (RAS) Three key attributes of a computing system design. Mellanox continues to provide innovative reference platforms, which enable the development of InfiniBand technology products. The company's latest platform, Nitro, offers the first ever InfiniBand blade reference design, and integrates server, switch and I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device.  blades in a single chassis, enabling a "Data Center in a Box." This platform demonstrates the significant advantages that the InfiniBand architecture provides over other technologies introduced in first generation blade designs.

"Mellanox is dedicated to continuing to deliver industry leading silicon solutions that enhance InfiniBand technology and improve the cost, performance and availability of data centers," said Kevin Deierling, vice president of Product Marketing for Mellanox Technologies. "Mellanox has been a vocal advocate for the InfiniBand architecture since inception and welcomes the opportunity to play a greater roll in promoting its advancement. We will show the same level of dedication, commitment and excellence to the IBTA as we have to our industry leading InfiniBand silicon solutions."

About the InfiniBand Trade Association

The Internet is creating an increased demand for server computer I/O subsystem A unit or device that is part of a larger system. For example, a disk subsystem is a part of a computer system. A bus is a part of the computer. A subsystem usually refers to hardware, but it may be used to describe software.  performance, scalability, reliability and flexibility. A shift to a switched fabric-based I/O architecture will enable industry participants to meet this increased demand. The InfiniBand Trade Association developed a specification for a channel-based, switched fabric architecture that provides a scalable performance range of 500 Mbyte/s to 6 Gbyte/s, meeting the needs from entry-level to high-end enterprise systems. InfiniBand Trade Association represents the industry's choice for developing I/O technologies that will keep pace with the demands of the Internet age.
