Mel Kohn chosen to fill post of VEDC chairman.

The Valley Economic Development Center announced that it has elected Mel Kohn as its new chairman.

Kohn has been a member of the VEDC board for four years and was the board's treasurer for almost two years.

"I am enthused about this new phase in my relationship with VEDC," Kohn said in a news release. "This is a vital agency for the business owner and the community and I am looking forward to being active in helping them achieve their goals and move forward in their mission."

Kohn is managing partner of the certified public accounting firm Kitsch, Kohn and Bridge LLP. He served as co-chair of the Business Tax Advisory Committee which helped pass last year's business tax reform.

John Marquis was elected to serve Kohn's remaining term as treasurer until board elections in June.

Kohn replaces Wayne Adelstein, who resigned as chairman and from the board of the VEDC in November of last year.

Adelstein, who is also CEO of the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, resigned after other area chambers complained about his recruitment tactics.
