Meiji Dairies, Takeda Pharmaceutical Dissolve Partnership in Hay Fever Drug Development.


Tokyo, Japan, Aug 4, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Meiji Dairies Meiji Dairies Corporation (明治乳業株式会社   has agreed with Takeda Pharmaceutical to terminate their joint development contract for TAK-201, a drug candidate for treating hay fever hay fever, seasonal allergy causing inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes. It is characterized by itching about the eyes and nose, sneezing, a profuse watery nasal discharge, and tearing of the eyes. .

Since November 2000, the two companies have jointly been conducting research and development for the candidate, but the results of Phase III clinical trials were unsatisfactory.

Consequently, Takeda Pharmaceutical made a proposal to terminate the contract and Meiji Dairies agreed.
