Megabucks Cindy in fight for life; TWIST OF FATE: pounds 22M WINNER IN CRASH HORROR.

THE woman who won a world-record pounds 22million slot-machine jackpot was last night fighting for her life after her car was rammed by a hit-and-run drunk driver.

Cindy Jay, 37, was being treated in an intensive care unit after the horror crash which killed her sister.

She was driving her "pride and joy" - a new Chevrolet Camaro she had bought with her winnings - when the accident happened.

Just six weeks ago, Cindy said she "was the happiest woman alive" after landing the huge win at a casino in Las Vegas.

She quit her job as a waitress and married boyfriend Terry Brennan, who was at her bedside last night.

Now her joy has been wrecked by the crash just five miles from where she won the jackpot.

Cindy and her sister Lela Jay, 45, were sitting in the car at a red traffic light when they were hit from behind by a speeding car.

Police have since arrested a 57-year-old man and charged him with drink-driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.
