MegaDrive announces strategic alliance with Grass Valley; digital media storage manufacturer to provide high speed disk arrays for turnkey systems.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 1996--MegaDrive Systems Inc. Thursday announced it will provide the storage backbone of Grass Valley's VideoDesktop Personal Production Suite, a turnkey system based on technology developed by Data Translation.

Specifically, MegaDrive will provide hard disk arrays specially optimized for high-end video production. The arrays are part of MegaDrive's popular Enterprise storage line for the desktop, and feature eight-slot storage hubs using 4.2GB and 9GB Fast and Wide SCSI-2 A/V drives.

"With its top-notch speed, flexibility and high availability features, the MegaDrive Enterprise array performs seamlessly, and is ideally suited for data intensive video applications," stated Matt Allard, Grass Valley VideoDesktop Product Manager. Added Allard, "By providing complete video solutions with only premium components, such as MegaDrive's Enterprise, Grass Valley has stayed ahead of the pack."

With the integration of MegaDrive's Enterprise E-8 storage hub into the VideoDesktop system, Grass Valley provides video users with the most advanced video technology, and the capability to create programs from start to finish on a single system. It is sold as a complete system including an Apple Power Macintosh 9500/132 CPU CPU
