Mega Mirror: Top Smack; YOU CHOOSE WWF AS GAME OF MILLENNIUM.

WRESTLEMANIA has hit Britain. WWF SmackDown! 2 slammed the opposition in Mega's massive games poll and claimed victory in two top categories.

Thousands of you voted for your favourite games of last year in our recent poll, making it the nation's biggest.

And you left us in no doubt of your verdict when you voted WWF SmackDown! 2 as the best overall game of the millennium.

The wrestling game, based on the top-rated TV series and starring characters such as The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, also scored first place in the top PlayStation game category.

Tony Hawk 2, the second instalment of the acclaimed skateboarding series, was your second favourite game of 2000 and the epic Japanese Dreamcast adventure Shenmue came third.

But it was never a close-run thing with SmackDown! 2 striding ahead of its rivals.

In the best PlayStation game category Tony Hawk was once again SmackDown's most serious competitor, securing a respectable second place.

And Lara Croft proved she's still popular with Mega readers when they voted Tomb Raider Chronicles the third best PlayStation game of the millennium.

In the N64 category Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Stadium vied for first and second place, with Snap just edging ahead. Nintendo fans voted the masterful The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask their third favourite 64 game.

In the Dreamcast stakes the supercool driving adventure Crazy Taxi came out tops, with Shenmue and Ecco The Dolphin coming second and third.

And those of you lucky enough to own a PS2 voted Tekken Tag Tournament the best PS2 game. FIFA 2001 and SSX gained second and third places. Pokemon once again dominated the best Game Boy game category with Pokemon Yellow winning hands down. Pokemon Red and Blue came second and third.

But many Pokemaniacs seem to have got their hands on imported versions of Pokemon Gold, not due to come out here until later this year, because this game also scored highly.

Voters had trouble deciding their favourite PC game of last year and nominations ranged from Jimmy White's Cue Ball to Baldur's Gate 2. But in the end Tomb Raider Chronicles, FIFA 2001 and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? were the top three.

We also asked you to vote for your favourite character in a game and The Rock from WWF SmackDown! 2 was a clear winner. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Lara Croft were also popular.

And finally, which was the worst game of the millennium? Well, you couldn't decide.

You hated everything from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to The Teletubbies and South Park to Bedrock Bowling.

Even Pokemon Yellow was voted a real no-no by some.
