A new administration has taken control in Redcar and Cleveland The borough of Redcar & Cleveland is a unitary authority in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England consisting of Redcar, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Guisborough, and small towns such as Brotton, Skelton and Loftus. .

A ten-strong Cabinet drawn from the three groups involved in the coalition will now be the focus for decision-making in the authority.

 councillor, who was also a member of the former Cleveland County Cleveland County is the name of several counties in the United States:
  • Cleveland County, Arkansas: named for Stephen Grover Cleveland, the twenty-second and twenty-fourth president of the United States.
 Council, has taken on the role of council leader but his main duty in that position will be chairman of the Cabinet.

Cllr Empson will also be the Cabinet member for strategic planning, development and infrastructure.

The photograph shows the new Cabinet, who are: seated Councillor Joyce Benbow (Cabinet member for community safety); standing, from the left: Councillor David Fitzpatrick (culture, leisure and tourism), Councillor Bob Stanway (rural affairs), Councillor Empson, Councillor Steve Kay (education), Councillor Valerie Halton (health and social services), Councillor Chris Abbott (housing and neighbourhood renewal), Councillor Glyn Nightingale (corporate resources), and Councillor Vera Moody (economic development).

Councillor Barbara Harpham, who is not on the photograph, is the Cabinet member for environmental improvement.
