Meet the staff.


We are pleased to introduce six staff members--four of them are brand new to the League and two are staff members who are now employed in new positions.

Luisa Barone joined the League as development assistant in November. She is a 2006 graduate of Miami University Miami University, main campus at Oxford, Ohio; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1809, opened 1824. The library has extensive collections in literature and American history, including the William Holmes McGuffey Library and Museum and the Edgar W.  of Ohio where she majored in Political Science and minored in Women's Studies women's studies

An academic curriculum focusing on the roles and contributions of women in fields such as literature, history, and the social sciences.

Currently she is pursuing her Master's Degree in Political Management at the George Washington University George Washington University, at Washington, D.C.; coeducational; chartered 1821 as Columbian College (one of the first nonsectarian colleges), opened 1822, became a university in 1873, renamed 1904. . Luisa is also executive assistant in Fund Development and Recruitment for the nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.
 Give An Hour. She has always admired the League of Women Voters League of Women Voters, voluntary public service organization of U.S. citizens. Organized in 1920 in Chicago as an outgrowth of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, it had as its original nucleus the leaders of the latter organization.  and is very excited to be part of it.

Christine Bradford came to the League in September 2006 to assist with the Vote411 project. She is membership coordinator for the Field Support Department and provides support to state and local Leagues, helps maintain national organizational information and systems, administers tax deductible accounts and supports departmental work on membership service, database management and membership/League development. Christine holds a BA in English from Rollins College in central Florida. She moved to the DC area after spending seven months working in London and traveling in Europe.

Theresa Cummings is executive assistant to the LWVUS LWVUS League of Women Voters of the United States  president and the LWVUS executive director. She provides the essential support that keeps things running smoothly and efficiently. Before coming to the national office to be our receptionist in February 2006, Theresa worked for Campus Marketing Services in Massachusetts. She is a native of Boston and has a BA in International Relations and History from the American International University in London, England. Theresa enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures.

Danielle Duffy has left her LWVUS executive assistant position and is the new membership recruitment coordinator in the Membership/Field Support Department. She works to foster membership growth and coordinates the ongoing Membership Recruitment Initiative. Originally from Naples, FL, Danielle has a BA in Political Science and a BS in Telecommunications from the University of Florida University of Florida is the third-largest university in the United States, with 50,912 students (as of Fall 2006) and has the eighth-largest budget (nearly $1.9 billion per year). UF is home to 16 colleges and more than 150 research centers and institutes. , and a recently completed MA in Political Management from the George Washington University in DC. She enjoys watching "Gator" football and debating politics with her friends.

Maggie Duncan joined the LWVUS as communications coordinator in August. She is responsible for arranging media appearances and interviews for senior League staff and working with other departments and Leagues to coordinate, develop and distribute external communications. Prior to joining the League, Maggie worked as a political consultant. She received her Bachelors degree in Political Science and Anthropology from the George Washington University, and is currently earning her Masters in Political Management there. In her spare time, Maggie volunteers at a homeless shelter and has lots of fun with friends and family.

Robyn Kurland joined the LWVEF staff in August as a project specialist for the D.C. Voting Rights Voting rights

The right to vote on matters that are put to a vote of security holders. For example the right to vote for directors.

 Education Project. She serves as a liaison and coordinator to the 20 participating Leagues. Robyn is committed to helping Leagues educate their communities about the denial of voting rights to D.C. citizens. She previously worked at The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington in Financial Resource Development and at the ACLU ACLU: see American Civil Liberties Union.  of Northern California. Robyn hails from Marin County, California Marin County (IPA: /məˈrɪn/) is a county located in the North San Francisco Bay Area of the U.S. state of California, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. As of 2000, the population was 247,289.  and received a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology at Union College.

And, we said good-bye to two valued staff members. In October, Francine Harley left to pursue her dream, a nursing degree, after 6 years of dedicated service as Membership and Field Support coordinator. Her sense of service made her stand out in providing superior support to League leaders nationwide. Francine's computer savvy and passion for democracy also benefited the organization greatly.  Lampert, who worked for two years on the Judicial Independence and Global Democracy projects, returned to Chile to pursue an advanced degree. We hope you join us in wishing both of these accomplished women success in their new endeavors.
