ATLANTA--(BW HealthWire)--April 15, 1997--

Industry experts to address innovations in wound principles and

practices, which in many cases will shorten treatment

time by two-thirds

Productions today announced the line-up of speakers and topics scheduled for this specialized conference, offering solutions for the timely and cost-saving treatment of wounds of varying etiologies. Representing Medtrade's overall commitment to the reduction of healthcare costs, and held in conjunction with the largest forum for marketing and selling healthcare products to a worldwide audience, the Wound Care Symposium will take place October 8-9, 1997, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is a collection of buildings in New Orleans, Louisiana. The lower end of building one is located 500 m (1640 feet) upriver from Canal Street on the banks of the Mississippi River. Named after former mayor of New Orleans Ernest N.  in New Orleans, La.

With the number of people over the age of 65 increasing each year, market surveys reveal that the costs associated with specialized wound treatment are also dramatically escalating. SEMCO Productions, in coordination with Dr. Tamara Fishman, have assembled a panel of wound care professionals that will create a one-of-a-kind Wound Care Symposium to keep attendees up-to-date on the very latest innovations. Topics will be designed at "driving down" the burgeoning costs of wound treatment, and in many cases reducing the healing time by two-thirds.

"This symposium sets out to better educate attendees on making wound management a team effort," explains Dr. Tamara Fishman, Conference Medical Director and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Wound Care Institute in North Miami Beach North Miami Beach, residential and resort city (1990 pop. 35,359), Dade co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast; inc. 1931. It is a major office and retail area. , Fla. "With medical studies showing that 1.5 - 4 million patients suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds, and that the cost of a single pressure wound can be as high as $50,000 for treatment, this symposium offers realistic solutions for curbing these costs."

The first annual symposium will provide attendees with a case management approach for properly treating and detecting diabetic and other disease-related wounds. Targeted to case managers, physical therapists, nurses, nursing students, physicians, podiatrists, DME (Distributed Management Environment) A network monitoring and control protocol defined by the Open Software Foundation (now The Open Group). DME was not widely used.

, incontinence, pressure ulcers, and reimbursement.

"This is a very important addition to Medtrade '97," explains Mark Simmering, Executive Vice President and COO of SEMCO Productions. "The understanding of proper wound treatment is vital to so many of today's healthcare professionals. With Medtrade's commitment to not only educating attendees on available products and services, but to also outline solutions of cost-savings, we are excited to have assembled such an impressive group of speakers on this subject."
