Medistem International Licensee ICM Names Respected Bioethicist Dr. Miguel Bedolla to Ethical Advisory Board; Respected Bio-Ethics Expert to Oversee Clinical and Medical Protocols at New State-of-the-Art Adult Stem Cell Clinic.

(OTCBB:MDSM) (FWB:S2U), committed to the ethical development of next-generation medical therapies from non-controversial adult stem cell sources, has announced that its international laboratory and clinical licensee, the Institute for Cellular Medicine (ICM) in Costa Rica, has named Dr. Miguel Bedolla, an internationally recognized bioethics and public health expert, to its Ethical Advisory Board.

Dr. Bedolla, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, is an established international healthcare authority whose academic and scientific career spans more than three decades. He joins three other members on ICM's recently established Ethical Advisory Board. Each brings extensive experience in the ethics of medical and scientific research. The members have backgrounds in research, industry, academia and as consultants to such important international bodies as the Regina Apostolorum, a Vatican Pontifical Institution.

Among his outstanding achievements, Dr. Bedolla was a founding member and first Vice President of the Latin American Institute of Bioethics and Human Rights in Merida, Venezuela's Universidad de los Andes. He is also a founding member of the Board of Directors at the International Society for Clinical Bioethics, which was incorporated in the Republic of Croatia in 2003.

Dr. Bedolla currently serves as Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Texas in San Antonio, where he is Director of the Center for the Business of Health in the College of Business. In addition, Dr. Bedolla is a faculty member of the Doctoral Program in Bioethics at the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City, Mexico.

As an Ethical Advisory Board member for ICM, Dr. Bedolla will help to oversee all adult stem cell-related treatment protocols in Costa Rica, to ensure the highest ethical practices in research and therapeutic applications of Medistem's proprietary, non-controversial adult stem cell treatments.

The previously named members of the Ethical Board are:

--Prof. Luis Jimenez, Ph.D., a professor of ethics who has been a consultant at the Costa Rica Embassy of the Vatican and the United Nations 6th committee.

--Dr. Thelma Sanchez, M.D., a respected cardiologist affiliated with hospitals in Florida and in Costa Rica, with extensive experience in medical and regulatory affairs for pharmaceutical leader Merck & Co.

--Prof. Walter Piedra, M.D., a pediatrician and professor of medical ethics at the Latin University, who has held numerous academic and professional positions in the medical ethics field.

Medistem recently announced it has executed a technology licensing and royalty agreement with the Institute for Cellular Medicine that allows ICM to perform clinical programs to further develop Medistem's stem cell technologies and therapies. The agreement also enables ICM to treat patients on a fee-for-service basis at ICM's laboratory and clinic facility in San Jose, Costa Rica, expected to open fully before the end of the second quarter, following receipt of all applicable government approvals.
