Mediabistro sold to Jupitermedia.


Jupitermedia Corp. (Darien, CT), a provider of images, information and events for information technology, business and creative professionals, has acquired all of the share of Mediabistro.com (New York), a career and community site for media and creative professionals, for $20 million in cash and a two-year earn-out that could result in an additional $3 million in cash consideration.

Founded in 1999, Mediabistro is targeted to those who create or work with content and other professionals who work in creative industries, including editors, writers, graphic designers, publishers, production and circulation professionals with television/radio stations, newspapers, magazines, online media, advertising, PR and graphic design companies. The subscription service provides job postings, educational courses, events, forums, and relevant content.

Mediabistro said it was established in order to provide opportunities, both online and off, for professionals to meet each other, share resources, become informed about job opportunities and new projects, improve career skills and showcase their work. Also, the company operates a wide variety of industry-related blogs, Jupitermedia Chairman/CEO said that Mediabistro's blog sites will "augment our 150 original content sites" while Mediabistro's events "mesh nicely with (our) growing trade show and Webinar operations."
