MediaNews Group Hits the Streets with Local Online Ad Sales and Technology Provider, WebVisible.

IRVINE, Calif. & DENVER -- Ad sales reps from MediaNews Group's west coast newspaper properties hit the streets last week with TrafficMAX, a 'guaranteed clicks' search engine marketing (SEM) product that is changing the way interactive advertising is sold.

"We've brought a product to market that clearly illustrates the value of Local Paid Search on the Internet," said Eric Grilly, President -- MediaNews Group Interactive. Traditionally, buying sponsored ads means advertisers create their own keywords and monitor daily bid levels, budgets, and spending limits. TrafficMAX provides advertisers with a full-service option for search engine marketing.

MediaNews Group has tapped WebVisible, a leading local SEM technology provider, to power the product for its customers, who can now instantly place their locally targeted ads in the sponsored search results of WebVisible's distribution network of more than 30 search engines, including Google and Yahoo! for a fixed, monthly fee.

WebVisible's product marketing team has been hosting training seminars at MediaNews Group properties in California, where ad reps have become inspired by the interactive addition of search engine marketing to their product suite.

MediaNews Group's advertisers can now be sold click-packages that guarantee traffic to an advertiser's website, backed by WebVisible's proprietary software that automates the keyword bidding process, therefore eliminating the complexities of self-procurement.

Utilizing MediaNews Group's experienced sales force to sell WebVisible's private label, turn-key product directly to the customer, further bridges the existing gap between local advertisers and search engines.

"TrafficMAX removes many uncertainties from search engine marketing. We guarantee traffic to our advertisers' websites for a fixed fee. We make it easy for them to be found on the Internet," said Grilly.

"The advertisers we've encountered see search engine marketing as an opportunity to embellish on their current marketing campaigns with the paper," said Dennis Evans, WebVisible's VP of Sales Support, after a week of ride-a-longs with sales reps in Los Angeles.

Online local search is responsible for nearly 450 million commerce driven searches each month in the US. Industry experts predict online advertising to be a $9 billion dollar industry in 2007.

MediaNews Group plans to extend its TrafficMAX service nationwide later this summer.
