 and real-time, broadcast-quality format conversion between any HD and SD formats. With HDX, Media 100 iHD is the first system of its kind to support resolution independent mixing and matching of HD and SD source material in the same timeline plus 10-bit uncompressed native HD editing--at a price expected to be under $10,000.

"We're hearing from more and more of our tens of thousands of Media 100 i editors that they are facing jobs with source material originating on HD," said Mike Savello, vice president of dual stream systems at Media 100. "Their requirements include mixing HD source with SD source and even mixing HD source acquired in multiple different HD formats. Unfortunately the only systems that support this today are priced significantly above $100,000. By incorporating our new HDX Technology into Media 100 iHD, we can meet these challenges at an affordable price point we think will engender broad adoption."

Field-Proven

Media 100 iHD incorporates the award-winning Media 100 i software, which the Company has developed and refined for ten years. The Media 100 i software supports Apple's Mac OS X operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
 and Aqua user interface, and gives Media 100 iHD many powerful, field-proven editorial, content design, and third-party interoperability functions, such as:
-- DirectEdit(TM) technology providing access to most system functions directly and easily from the timeline--gone is the tedium of hunting through layers of menus;

-- InstantMedia(TM) integration for native media compatibility with any QuickTime application;

-- Unmatched Adobe After Effects integration enabling Media 100 i timeline elements to be exported as separate After Effects layers for independent manipulation;

-- Native-YUV color correction for professional results;

-- Advanced sound design support for real-time audio EQ, reverb and dynamics processing on up to 24 tracks of audio;

-- Direct timeline access to advanced Boris character generation and video effects processing.

Powered By HDX

The HDX Technology that gives Media 100 iHD its HD/SD power includes a high-density HDX PCI card supporting 10-bit uncompressed input and output of all the HD and SD digital television formats defined by SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 259M. These include:

-- 1080p/30/29.97/25/24/23.976 (SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, White Plains, NY, www.smpte.org) A professional society for motion picture and TV engineers with more than 9,000 members worldwide. It prepares standards and documentation for TV production.  274M);

HDX Broadcast Format Conversion

Real-time, broadcast-quality format conversion is a breakthrough of Media 100 iHD powered by HDX. Broadcast format conversion enables Media 100 iHD to convert from any HD format to any HD format, from any SD format to any HD format, and from any HD format to any SD format--in real time.

This powerfully flexible capability lets users master to any HD or SD format, regardless of the source format. Also, broadcast format conversion lets them mix and match HD and SD source material in a single timeline. This simplicity and format flexibility in an open desktop solution is unprecedented.

Picture Quality

The high picture quality of Media 100 iHD is a breakthrough too. Starting with 10-bit quantization (1) The division of a range of values into a single number, code or classification. For example, class A is 0 to 999, class B is 1000 to 9999 and class C is 10000 and above.
