Medgar Evers College opens its new facility.


Medgar Evers College Medgar Evers College (MEC) is a college campus (offering bachelor's and associate's degrees) of The City University of New York.

MEC was founded in 1970 through cooperation from educators and community leaders in central Brooklyn.
 celebrated the opening of its newly constructed School of Business and Student Support Services Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 21. The building was designed by Gruzen Samton Architects

The ceremony was held at the new building, which is located on 1637 Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn, between Crown and Carroll Streets.

The event will be preceded by a reception and remarks from Dr. Edison O. Jackson Dr. Edison O. Jackson1 is the current President of Medgar Evers College. He has been President since 1989. He received his B.S and M.A from Howard University and an Ed.D from Rutgers University. He started his career as a Senior Counselor at Federal City College. , president of Medgar Evers College. Designed for both academic and student support services, the Building was an 18-month construction project, which was a collaborative effort between CUNY and DASNY DASNY Dormitory Authority of the State of New York , and was managed by McKissack Turner Construction.

The 44,950 s/f three-story building houses The School of Business and the administrative offices for Student Affairs.
