MedAssets' Fifth Annual Technology and Innovation Summit to Focus on Identifying Emerging Technology Vendors; Successful Event for Discovering Innovative Vendors of Medical Technology Returns.ATLANTA -- MedAssets Supply Chain Systems announced today the fifth annual Technology and Innovation Summit to be held in St. Louis, Missouri on September 21. The Summit is one of several MedAssets efforts to encourage the availability of innovative products and new medical technology in the marketplace. This year's event will focus on identifying and inviting emerging medical technology vendors to present their products for review. Approximately 50 prospective vendors will display products and services for review by 100 MedAssets' committee members. Vendors are given equal opportunity for review regardless of size and scope of services and are selected to participate in the Summit by considering customer suggestions, vendor requests to participate, and recommendations by MedAssets' staff with in-depth industry knowledge. Non-contracted vendors offering breakthrough products expected to improve patient care, labor and cost efficiency are first to be considered. MedAssets' customers are given the opportunity to review new technology and have direct input into the makeup of their group purchasing portfolio. Small and emerging vendors have the same chance to be awarded a national agreement as do larger companies. "The MedAssets Technology and Innovation Summit differs from other similar events in the industry in that vendors currently not under contract with MedAssets are invited to attend and be evaluated by members," stated Joseph Dysko, executive director, Engineering and Capital Resource Group, MedAssets. "We believe this approach provides a level playing field See net neutrality. for all companies with innovative products, and allows our members to have access to products and services that can positively impact the quality of patient care." As a result of the 2005 Technology and Innovation Summit in which 48 prospective vendors presented products to 95 MedAssets committee members, eight contracts were awarded and 16 are currently in process.
