Me in the New Millennium.

How do you see the future

This was the question thousands of children around the world answered for ICAF's 2000-2004 Arts Olympiad. The Arts Olympiad is a comprehensive four-year program of arts learning and global education through the arts. Its main objective is to encourage children's creativity and to connect children around the world through the language-independent medium of art. To illustrate their ideas on the theme "Me in the New Millennium," young artists used paints, pastels, crayons, chalks, ink, and dyes to create imaginative compositions. The theme invoked vitally important issues for children and society: "How do I see myself?" "How do I see the world?" "How do I want the world to see me?"

"What do I want to change?"

Classroom projects led to the selection of one entry per school. In many schools the students got involved in choosing the winning artwork. Schools in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. "As the art teacher for 785 inner city elementary students in West Palm Beach, Florida West Palm Beach, also known as West Palm, is the most populous city in Palm Beach County, Florida, USA. The city is also the oldest incorporated municipality in South Florida. According to the University of Florida's 2006 estimates, the city had a population of 107,617. , I am always searching for creative ways for my students to reflect on their future and the future of the world. Me in the New Millennium gave my classes the opportunity to consider, illustrate and then reflect back on their hopes and dreams for their future. Many saw themselves graduating from college, attaining lofty goals and giving back to their communities. My youngest artists looked to the future as peaceful and filled with rainbows. All the students had high aspirations aspirations nplaspiraciones fpl (= ambition); ambición f
