McMahon's the man.Not only did I get the September 26 issue and raise a jaded eyebrow, I let it sit for a couple of days, wondering if I was even going to open it or just let the Nip/Tuck cover become a coaster on my coffee table. Well, open it I did--and, boy, am I glad. I read every page, cover to cover (almost not putting it down), and have even reread Verb 1. reread - read anew; read again; "He re-read her letters to him" read - interpret something that is written or printed; "read the advertisement"; "Have you read Salman Rushdie?" some of the articles. My expectations in choosing The Advocate as my one magazine subscription have definitely been validated now that I've received my second issue. SCOTT ROSENZWEIG Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. , Nev. I have just begun reading The Advocate and absolutely love it. It is so good to read intelligent and thought-provoking articles about gay issues. The article on Julian McMahon Julian Dana William McMahon (born 27 July 1968) is a Golden Globe-nominated Australian actor and former fashion model. Biography Early life McMahon was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, the second of the three children of William McMahon (later Sir ["On the Wild Side," September 26] was great, and I will start to watch Nip/Tuck just to see him. It is amazing that so many countries are so far ahead of this country when it comes to gay rights. Perhaps in the near future this country will catch up to the rest of the world. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to all future issues. STEVE ROSENTHAL Fort Lauderdale Fort Lauderdale (lô`dərdāl), residential, commercial, and resort city (1990 pop. 149,377), seat of Broward co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast; settled around a fort built (c.1837) in the Seminole War, inc. 1911. , Fla. I do not normally watch Nip/Tuck, but after reading the article in my copy of The Advocate, I watched the second show of the season, which ended with Julian McMahon's troubled character punching the troubled kid in the nose and throwing him out of the house naked. I was horrified hor·ri·fy tr.v. hor·ri·fied, hor·ri·fy·ing, hor·ri·fies 1. To cause to feel horror. See Synonyms at dismay. 2. To cause unpleasant surprise to; shock. . Any violence against the GLBT GLBT Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered community cannot be endorsed or featured in your magazine. I felt your article did nothing to criticize this kind of abuse and violent behavior. Having grown up in the South, I know it to be more than common. Your coverage of this show, which seemed timed to come out within days of the episode that featured McMahon's character committing violence against a gay person, is almost unforgivable.
