McDONNELL DOUGLAS HONORS CHANDLER, ARIZ. EMPLOYEE FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
ST. LOUIS, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Dave Gimbert of Chandler, Ariz., is one of 10 McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD) employees and retirees honored by the corporation for the incredible support they give to people and their community. He and the others received the annual "Volunteer of the Year" award at a banquet in St. Louis April 20.
John F. McDonnell, chairman and chief executive officer of McDonnell Douglas, presented each award recipient with a crystal award and framed certificate. The corporation also will donate $1,000 in Gimbert's name to Tempe Home Services Inc. of Tempe, Ariz.
Gimbert, an accountant at McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co., is an active member of the Tempe Jaycees. He was president of the group last year and is now chairman of the board.
One weekend each month, Gimbert donates his time to helping Tempe Home Services deliver meals to disabled adults and the elderly. The meals provided by this service make it possible for many adults to continue living independently.
During the past year, Gimbert donated nearly 1,000 hours to volunteer work that included blood drives, voter registration campaigns and cleaning up the environment. Gimbert also helped organize an effort to replace the leaking roof on an 84-year-old Tempe woman's trailer home.
