McCoy's Bandito Brothers Gears Up with Scribe Baxter for Mickey Thompson Murder Story 'Challenger'.


LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- "Dust to Glory" producer Mike McCoy's new production company, Bandito Brothers, has acquired the life story rights of murdered auto racing superstar Mickey Thompson Marion Lee "Mickey" Thompson (born December 7, 1928 - died March 16, 1988) was an American off-road racing legend. He won many championships as a racer, and later formed sanctioning bodies SCORE International and Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group (MTEG). . Screenwriter David Baxter David Baxter was a fictional character on the series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He was played by child actor, Robbie Rist. Genius child.
David was the adopted son of Ted and Georgette Baxter during the final season of the show.
, who wrote the original screenplay "NUVOLARI" on Italian auto racing icon Tazio Nuvolari for 20th Century Fox, has been tapped by McCoy to write the Thompson feature "Challenger."

No stranger to writing about historical figures, Baxter also penned the Tribeca Film Institute/Sloan Foundation award winning screenplay BROKEN CODE about DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.

Mickey Thompson, who was posthumously inducted in the Motorsports International Hall of Fame in 1990, achieved international notoriety in 1960 on the Bonneville Salt Flats Bonneville Salt Flats (bŏn`əvĭl, bŏ`nēvĭl, bŏn`vĭl), desert area in Tooele co., NW Utah, c.14 mi (22.5 km) long and 7 mi (11.2 km) wide.  when he became "the fastest man alive" and the first American to break the 400 mph barrier in his self-built racing car dubbed "Challenger."

Thompson's son Danny had this to say about the planned film and documentary: "Its been a long time coming for my dad's story to be told. We've been waiting for the right opportunity and the right group of people to tell it with the compassion it deserves."

Bandito Brothers has already begun production on the Thompson documentary, "Gearhead-The Legend of Mickey Thompson," which is being directed by John Bilecky.

McCoy has a long history in the motorsports world as both a Baja 1000 and Baja 500 champion. His Bandito Brothers enterprise will focus on content with an adventurist point of view. Bandito Brothers' Head of Production, Cassandra Del Viscio will oversee the development and production of both projects.

Baxter is represented by attorney Eric Suddleson of Nelson, Felker, Toczek, and Davis in the six figure writing deal.
