) has been named the recipient of this year's Corporate Award from The Blinded American Veterans Foundation for the national restaurant company's Veterans Appreciation program.

As part of McCormick & Schmick's annual Veterans Appreciation program, the restaurants serve any veteran a complimentary meal on the day of the program. What began as a small grassroots effort at just one restaurant in 1999 was expanded nationwide in 2003 due to its overwhelming popularity and the positive response the company received from veterans. The McCormick & Schmick's Veterans Appreciation program has been lauded by President George W. Bush and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Affairs is a term of the business that deals with the relation between a government and its veteran communities, usually administered by the designated government agency. , as well as a number of state veterans departments.

The Congressional Award is the U.S. Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14- to 23-year-olds.
