 of Middlefield Banc Corp. (Pink Sheets: MBCN MBCN Major Broadcasting Cable Network ) announced the election of James J. McCaskey and Carolyn J. Turk to the bank's Board of Directors.

"The Middlefield Banking Company will benefit greatly from the keen business management skills and proven leadership capabilities that both Jim and Carolyn possess," said Thomas G. Caldwell, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Middlefield Banking Company. "As representatives of two of the newer market areas into which we have moved, we expect that they will be tremendous assets in helping us to grow and serve the needs of the local communities."

A lifelong resident of Chardon, McCaskey is presently Senior Vice President of Pattie Group, Inc. He has been affiliated with that firm since 1987. Holding two bachelors degrees from Wilmington College, McCaskey, 39, has been actively involved in a number of local civic and community groups. In those capacities, he has served as Chairman of the Geauga County Maple Festival, member of the Geauga County Fair Board, director of Chardon Rotary and president of St. Mary Booster Club. McCaskey and his wife, Ronda, reside in Chardon with their three children.

Turk, 46, is a magna cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University Youngstown State University, at Youngstown, Ohio; coeducational; est. 1908 as a department of the Youngstown Association School sponsored by the Young Men's Christian Association.  with a degree in accounting and obtained her Certified Public Accounting license in 1992. Presently serving as regional controller for Molded Fiber Glass Companies in Ashtabula, she has also been very active in the Orwell community. The Middlefield Banking Company, headquartered in Middlefield, Ohio, is a full service community bank serving northeastern Ohio. Assets at December 31, 2002 totaled $226.2 million. The bank operates offices in Chardon, Garrettsville, Mantua Mantua (măn`chə, –tə), Ital. Mantova, city (1991 pop. 53,065), capital of Mantova prov.  and Middlefield. An office in Orwell is expected to open in April 2003.
