McCARTHY, MOSCHNER NOMINATED FOR ZENITH BOARD OF DIRECTORS
GLENVIEW, Ill., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Two senior operating executives of Zenith Electronics Corp. (NYSE: ZE) have been nominated to fill upcoming vacancies on the company's board of directors, the company announced today.
The new director nominees, disclosed in the proxy statement being mailed beginning today, are two members of Zenith's office of the president: Gerald M. McCarthy, senior vice president, sales and marketing, and Albin F. Moschner, senior vice president, operations.
McCarthy, 50, has been president of the Zenith Sales Company division since 1983 and was elected senior vice president, sales and marketing, and a member of the Office of the President in October 1991. He has served in various product planning, marketing and sales positions since joining Zenith in 1965.
Moschner, 39, senior vice president, operations, and a member of the office of the president, joined Zenith in October 1991. In a 14-year career with IBM Corp., he rose quickly through the manufacturing and engineering ranks to become a senior operating executive there. After leaving IBM in early 1988, he was chief operating officer at Control Data Corp.'s ETA Systems supercomputer subsidiary, and then at Tricord Systems Inc., a Minnesota-based start-up computer company.
Nominated for re-election to the Zenith board are:
-- Harry G. Beckner, 63, management consultant since 1984; retired chief operating officer, H.E. Butt Grocery Co.; former chairman of the board, Jewel Food Stores, Jewel Companies Inc.
-- T. Kimball Brooker, 52, president, Barbara Oil Company since 1989; former managing director, Chicago Office, Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated.
-- David H. Cohen, 53, provost, Northwestern University since 1992; former vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School, Northwestern University.
-- G. Ralph Guthrie, 64, retired chairman, Urban Investment and Development Co.
-- Charles Marshall, 62, retired vice chairman of the board, American Telephone and Telegraph Company.
-- Andrew McNally IV, 52, president and chief executive officer, Rand McNally & Company, since 1978.
-- Jerry K. Pearlman, 52, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Zenith Electronics Corp., since 1983.
-- Peter S. Willmott, 54, chairman of the board, Pic'N' Save Corp., since 1990; president and chief executive officer, Willmott Services Inc., since 1989; former chairman, president and chief executive officer, Carson Pirie Scott & Co.
Leaving the Zenith board after the April 28 annual meeting are Robert B. Hansen and Arthur W. Schultz.
Hansen, 62, a director since 1984 and retired president of the Zenith Consumer Products Division, has completed a consulting assignment with Zenith; consistent with Zenith's policy for retired inside directors, he is not standing for re-election to the board.
Schultz, 70, retired chairman of Foote, Cone & Belding Communications Inc. and a Zenith director since 1982, has reached the retirement age for outside directors.
Zenith directors are elected for one-year terms.
