Hey, all you tree huggers and granola-munching gals! If volunteering to improve the environment sounds like a groovy opportunity to you, apply for Earth Force's Youth Advisory Board. Earth Force gets kids fired up about preserving our precious planet. The board members, ages 12 to 17, act as spokespeople at national events, participate in monthly conference calls and e-mail discussions, and lead Earth Force campaigns. Cool perk: You attend two all-expenses paid trips to Washington, D.C., each year to meet with all the other YAB members. YAB member Brooke Crowther, 15, says, "I had the opportunity to speak on the lawn of the Capitol in D.C. on the importance of biking for the welfare of the environment during Earth Force's Get Out Spok'n Campaign." Think you've got what it takes to demonstrate environmental leadership? Earth Force has five slots open on its board. Fill out an application at www.earthforce.org, or call 1-800-23FORCE. Applications received by April 23 are reviewed in the spring. So break out the recycled paper, and get yours in ASAP. Miss the deadline? Apps received by Sept. 3 are reviewed in the fall. And mark your calendars--Earth Day is April 22!
