Maxoptix Reaches For The Star.

Maxoptix Corporation's new Star series of 5.25-inch MO drives is included in their upgrade program--a program that offers users with previous generations of the company's drives the option to trade up to the new performance T6-5200 and T5-2600. Available in two models, the T6-5200 (5.2GB) and the T5-2600 (2.6GB), the new products offer users up to four-generation ISO-Standard media compatibility and an Ultra-SCSI interface for data transfer rates of up to 20MB/sec synchronous Refers to events that are synchronized, or coordinated, in time. For example, the interval between transmitting A and B is the same as between B and C, and completing the current operation before the next one is started are considered synchronous operations. Contrast with asynchronous.  and 6.8MB asynchronous Refers to events that are not synchronized, or coordinated, in time. The following are considered asynchronous operations. The interval between transmitting A and B is not the same as between B and C. The ability to initiate a transmission at either end. . The products will also be backed by their tech support program and a 2-year parts and labor warranty. With a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) The average time a component works without failure. It is the number of failures divided by the hours under observation.

MTBF - Mean Time Between Failures
of 200,000 hours and a Mean Insertions Between Failure of 500,000, they represent a breakthrough for the MO industry, providing reliability. The drives are easily integrated into Windows 95/98 and NT, Unix, Linux, Netware, and Macintosh-based environments. The series T6-5200 and T5-2600 are available through OEMs, distributors, VARs, and system integrators See systems integrator.  worldwide with a starting list price of $1,299 and $1,899, respectively.

The turbocache system, combined with the 8MB cache of the T6-5200, offers users performance. Both the T6-5200 and the T5-2600 are solutions for data intensive applications such as document imaging, medical imaging, data exchange, archive, and backup. The 5.25-inch MO drives feature rotational speeds Rotational speed (sometimes called speed of revolution) indicates, for example, how fast a motor is running. Rotational speed is equivalent to angular speed, but with different units. Rotational speed tells how many complete rotations (i.e.  of up to 3868rpm, using 2.6GB media, and have a maximum 20MB/sec data transfer rate and 25ms average seek time.
