MaxVision Introduces the TeraPac3 Mass Storage Expansion Unit with up to 8 TB of Removable SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. MaxVision's patent pending third generation portable mass storage expansion system, TeraPac3, provides an integrated compact chassis which will accommodate any of the MaxVision HDPac removable drive (1) A device that spins, reads and writes an optical disc, hard magnetic disk or floppy (magnetic) disk, which is inserted into the unit by means of a drive tray or cartridge slot. Examples of removable drive media are CDs, DVDs, REV disks and Zip disks. See removable disk.  magazines and supports up to eight 3.5" SATA removable hard drives. The TeraPac3 currently supports 320 GB, 500 GB and 750 GB SATA hard drives, and with the availability of 1 TB SATA drives (second half of 2007) gives the TeraPac3 a potential storage capacity of 8 TB, with up to 2.4 GB/sec transfer rate.

The TeraPac3 is not only an option for the MaxPac family of rugged portable workstations; it is also designed to work with any computer which has space for PCIe x4, x8 or x16 or PCI-X (PCI eXtended) An enhanced PCI bus technology originally developed by IBM, HP and Compaq that is backward compatible with existing PCI cards. PCI and 32-bit PCI-X slots are physically the same, and PCI cards can plug into PCI-X slots.  RAID controller. These combined features of the TeraPac3 make it ideal for Military applications, as well as the Entertainment and Mapping industries.
