Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd. Donates $500 to Maui Community College.

KAHULUI, Hawaii -- Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd. (MPC) announced today that it has donated the proceeds the Company earned at the 13th Annual Ulupalakua Thing to the Maui Community College Culinary Academy. MPC has been a proud participant in the Ulupalakua Thing since the food festival's inception in 1993 and is a long time supporter of the agricultural industry on Maui.

Presented by the Maui Agricultural Foundation, the Ulupalakua Thing strives to improve community awareness and further agricultural education on Maui. Each year, the volunteers and sponsors of the festival raise thousands of dollars at the event to benefit the agriculture and culinary programs at Maui Community College and Maui's 4-H clubs. This year, MPC elected to further support these initiatives by donating $500 raised from the booth sales of its Hawaiian Gold(R) pineapples to the Maui Culinary Academy, Maui Community College's award winning culinary arts program.

MPC and its parent company Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Inc. (AMEX:MLP) have a long history of supporting local farmers and businesses on Maui. Recently ML&P formed the Maui Agricultural Partners program to further support the local diversified agricultural industry through the development of sustainable farming techniques and the provision of educational, entrepreneurial and partnering opportunities. Maui Agricultural Partners and ML&P are also sponsoring the Aloha Friday Farmers Market for the month of June. This market is an important outlet for local agricultural producers and boasts a great relationship with Maui Community College, which hosts the market and celebrates the use of local foods at Maui Culinary Academy's Pa`ina cafeteria on Fridays.
