Maui Electric Selects Intergraph Geospatial Resource Management Solution; Integrated Solution Key To Electric Utility's Decision.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1999--Intergraph Utilities (Nasdaq/NMS:INGR) today announced that Maui Electric Company (MECO) has selected Intergraph's geospatial resource management solution - an integrated, end-to-end turnkey solution - to increase operational efficiency and improve customer service. MECO, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Company, provides electricity to the islands of Lanai Lanai (lənī`), island, 141 sq mi (365 sq km), central Hawaii, W of Maui island across the Auau Channel; Mt. Lanaihale (3,370 ft/1,027 m) is the island's highest point. For many years the island was used for sugarcane raising and cattle grazing. , Molokai, and Maui.

The contract includes software and implementation services and is based on Intergraph's fast-start electric template, which contains an industry-standard data model, symbol library, placement functions, trace routines and reports. Basing the system on template technology shortens the design and development cycle. The system includes Intergraph's industry-leading ActiveFRAMME(TM) AM/FM/GIS software; Field View for seamless map viewing, querying, and notetaking; and GeoMedia(R) Web Map, which distributes GIS (1) (Geographic Information System) An information system that deals with spatial information.
