Matsushita Avionics Systems Goes Live on Vastera's European Import Solution; MAS to Use TradeSphere to Take Advantage of Customs Freight Simplified Procedures.

Vastera, Inc. (Nasdaq:VAST), the leading provider of solutions for Global Trade Management (GTM), is pleased to announce that Matsushita Avionics Systems Corporation (MAS) has gone live with Vastera's European TradeSphere Importer solution.

Vastera's TradeSphere Importer solution will enable MAS to file customs entries electronically and to take advantage of Customs Freight Simplified Procedures (CFSP), which are expected to eventually lead to the Single European Authorization (SEA).

MAS, a leading supplier of In-Flight Entertainment Systems, will now be able to file its entries electronically with U.K. Customs via TradeSphere. By filing electronic Customs entries MAS expects to see expedited customs clearance, as well as a reduction in expenses.

In today's rapidly evolving global trade environment, where countries are more closely scrutinizing cross-border transactions, filing customs forms electronically significantly reduces clearance time as shipping information is received by Customs while a shipment is in-transit to destination.

Earlier this year, Vastera's TradeSphere solution was certified for CFSP by Her Majesties Customs & Excise. CFSP enhances and simplifies Customs procedures for clearing imported goods, either at the frontier or by removal from the warehouse.

CFSP is a stepping-stone towards SEA, which permits a company to import its goods into multiple European countries while only having to declare them in a single country. The European Union has therefore reduced the barriers to trade, but have significantly increased the information management requirements for companies looking to leverage the trade programs.
