Mathsoft re-enters Macintosh market with launch of Mathcad PLUS 6.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1996--MathSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:MATH) today introduced Mathcad PLUS 6 for the Macintosh, a major new release of its flagship product for technical professionals, students and educators worldwide. Mathcad PLUS 6, a powerful, easy to use, integrated technical calculation product, provides Macintosh users with a live, interactive environment for solving real-world problems using a comprehensive set of numeric and symbolic mathematical and data analysis features, 2-D and 3-D graphing and visualization capabilities, and tools for collaboration including built-in Internet connectivity.

Mathcad PLUS 6 for Macintosh is a new version of Mathcad designed specifically for the Macintosh. It includes the impressive capabilities found in MathSoft's market leading Mathcad PLUS for Windows and is compatible with the Windows version. Mathcad PLUS 6 for Macintosh also adds several new features making it the most recent version of Mathcad on the market today. New Mathcad features include improved editing and formatting capabilities, simpler menu structures, the ability to create and embed animation within a worksheet, and QuickPlot, a new intelligent formatting capability for easy, direct graphing of formulas and expressions. The software, designed for the PowerMac, also provides support for 68030 and 68040 based systems.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Priced at $349.95, Mathcad PLUS 6 will be available in September. A full-function academic version will be available at the same time for $129.95. LAN versions will be available for corporate and lab installations. Users of previous versions of Mathcad for Macintosh can upgrade for $149.95. Mathcad PLUS 6 will be available through leading commercial and educational outlets and catalogs.
