Masoneilan Announces Enhanced Digital Valve Positioner Especially Designed for Harsh Environments.

AVON, Mass. -- Masoneilan, a leading global control valve supplier to the automated process control industry and a division of Dresser, Inc., has introduced its SVI (R) II AP (Advanced Performance) intelligent digital valve positioner.

The new Masoneilan product is superior to the company's already successful SVI II digital valve positioner. The most notable areas of improvement are in the new unit's controllability, sensitivity and speed. In addition the new Masoneilan SVI II AP positioner utilizes marine-grade components to increase its ruggedness and durability, which are especially important in harsh environments. The SVI II AP firmware and software has also been enhanced allowing for real-time data collection and tracking to accurately monitor and predict equipment performance.

The SVI II AP positioner meets IEC 61508 SIL 2 (international standard for safety-related systems) requirements. The design is certified as "intrinsically safe, flameproof and explosion proof" by FM Global, ATEX, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and others.

Some of the SVI II AP options include stainless steel components, local indicating LCD with push buttons for local calibration, position transmitter, discrete outputs and a remote position-sensing mechanism. Using EDDL and FDT/DTM technologies (standard interface specification that allows integration of intelligent devices into process control systems), the Masoneilan SVI II AP positioner provides interoperability with leading control systems suppliers including Emerson, Honeywell and Yokogawa.

Like Masoneilan's other intelligent digital valve positioners and software, the new SVI II AP positioner offers one-model-fits all mounting, scalable hardware and firmware platforms and diagnostics for predictive maintenance.
