Maryland group launches grassroots effort.


The Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

) has started a grassroots effort encouraging nonprofits and their communities to voice opposition to additional government budget cuts, according to according to

The nonpartisan initiative, "Raise the Voice! Join With Nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.
 Leaders For Responsible Government" calls on the nonprofit community to organize and conduct town meetings across Maryland to share perspectives and information on state policies' impact on people, the statement said.

The effort will also analyze and report on state budget actions, train nonprofit workers to be "effective policy advocates," coordinate a Nonprofit Vote 2006 project to ensure all people connected to nonprofits participate in the statewide election, and launch an online advocacy center at www.capwiz.com/mdnonprofit.
