Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) has appointed Timothy Druckrey as the new director of the graduate photography and digital imaging program.


Maryland Institute College of Art Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is an art university in Baltimore, Maryland. It was founded in 1826, making it the oldest accredited art college in the United States.  (MICA mica (mī`kə), general term for a large group of minerals, hydrous silicates of aluminum and potassium, often containing magnesium, ferrous iron, ferric iron, sodium, and lithium and more rarely containing barium, chromium, and fluorine. ) has appointed Timothy Druckrey as the new director of the graduate photography and digital imaging program. An internationally renowned curator, writer, and editor, and current graduate critic-in-residence at the college, Druckrey succeeds retiring director William Larson. Druckrey co-organized the international symposium "Ideologies of Technology" at the Dia Center for the Arts in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

 and co-edited the book Culture on the Brink: Ideologies of Technology (1994). He also co-curated the 1993 exhibition "Iterations: The New Image" at the International Center of Photography in New York City and edited the book by the same name. Druckrey also edited Electronic Culture: Technology and Visual Representation (1997) and is series editor for Electronic Culture: History, Theory, Practice, published by MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology  Press.
