Mary Josephine DiFonzo, 83.
She leaves her dear friend Shirley O'Donoghue of Rochdale, two sisters, Angela Andrukonis of Attleboro and Janet Rushing of Wells, Maine, and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Frank DiFonzo, died in 1982.
Mary Jo was born in South Barre, daughter of Joseph and Mary (D'Annolfo) DiFonzo and graduated from Barre High School. She received an associate's degree from Becker Jr. College.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Anna Maria College in Paxton and also studied at Emmanuel College in Boston and Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Mary Jo was a member of the Sisters of Mercy for 18 years.
She was a teacher at Marian High School in Worcester and several other Sisters of Mercy schools including a teaching mission in Calif. Later, she taught business and Spanish at Wachusett Regional High School.
A calling hour will be held Friday, March 22 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Barre.
