Maruho, Toray to Co-develop Antipruritic Agent for Dialysis Patients.


Tokyo, Japan, Nov 2, 2005 - (JCNN) - Maruho and TORAY signed an agreement on October 31on the joint development of TRK-820, a candidate compound discovered by TORAY's Pharmaceutical Research Laboratory which a kappa opioid receptor agonist with a different mechanism from existing antipruritic antipruritic /an·ti·pru·rit·ic/ (-proo-rit´ik) preventing or relieving itching, or an agent that does this.

 agents like antihistamine antihistamine (ăn'tĭhĭs`təmēn), any one of a group of compounds having various chemical structures and characterized by the ability to antagonize the effects of histamine. .

Under the agreement terms, the two companies will jointly conduct a phase III trial in Europe, which is intended to treat dialysis patients with uremic uremic
