From King's birth, the narrative is straightforward and respectful, but it does not shy away from Verb 1. shy away from - avoid having to deal with some unpleasant task; "I shy away from this task" avoid - stay clear from; keep away from; keep out of the way of someone or something; "Her former friends now avoid her" the all-too-human foibles of a man whose "icon" status is still well deserved. I found fascinating the insight into King's relationship with the Kennedy administration, and the objective rendering of the facts. The Kennedys were all too eager to court King and the Civil Rights Movement to gain the black vote, but King was not invited to either Kennedy's inauguration INAUGURATION. This word was applied by the Romans to the ceremony of dedicating some temple, or raising some man to the priesthood, after the augurs had been consulted.
