Marshfield earns first playoff trip.

COOS BAY Coos Bay (ks), city (1990 pop. 15,076), Coos co., SW Oreg., a port of entry on Coos Bay; founded 1854 as Marshfield, inc. 1874, renamed 1944.  - Matt Duryea was 4-for-4 with two home runs, two doubles and four RBIs, and also pitched a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Marshfield earned the Midwestern League's No. 3 seed, and its first-ever appearance in the playoffs, with an 8-3 baseball victory over Willamette on Friday.

"It's good getting Marshfield excited about baseball again," Pirates coach Larry Willett said. "It's been a good year and, hopefully, we should be competitive in the playoffs."

Jake Miller was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Marshfield. T.J. Woodke's single was Willamette's only hit.

North Eugene 8, Lebanon 1

Aaron Greer hit a two-run home run and Andrew Stiltner had a three-run double as the Highlanders scored seven runs in the sixth inning to clinch the No. 4 seed in the state playoffs.

Trevor Mael hit a run-scoring double for North Eugene, and Jon Keller struck out nine and gave up four hits while pitching a complete game.

South Eugene 7, Thurston 6

The Axemen scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to overtake the Colts at Civic Stadium.

Scott Fagan doubled in Taylor Hinz and Skyler Wilgus with the tying and winning runs to lead the Axemen.

Thurston had scored three runs apiece in the second and third innings to take a 6-0 lead. Dusty Bodeen had three RBIs for the Colts.

Churchill 10, Springfield 0

SPRINGFIELD - Ryan Royster hit a home run to highlight a 10-run first inning for the league champion Lancers.

Churchill had five of its six hits, two errors and three walks in the inning. Cory Boosinger's double in the third was the Lancers' only other hit.

Ryan Poe had two hits for Springfield.

BROOKINGS - Cody Clack was 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Sean Radford was 2-for-5 and scored three runs in the Lancers' win.

NEWPORT - Matt Staffenson hit a two-run home run, and Donnie Kasper and Carlos Munoz each had doubles as the Cubs clinched at least a tie for the title.

Joe Ford was 2-for-4 for Newport, and Kade Hobin was 2-for-4 for Philomath.

Oakland 3, Reedsport 0

REEDSPORT - Jake Wilson pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Oakers clinched the league title.

Justin Ladd was also 2-for-4, and Trevor Hammond had two RBIs for Yoncalla.

MARCOLA - Cameron Austin pitched a one-hitter while striking out 10 as the Indians snapped a 37-game losing streak.

Later she moved her act to Las Vegas, Nevada.  was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Mohawk. Ricardo Leclaire pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and two walks for Mapleton.
