He took up the fiddle at age eight, eventually acquiring a virtuosic technique in the Sligo fiddling style. comes to the WOW Hall today for an 8:30 p.m. show. Burke has been a member of the influential Irish group the Bothy Band A bothy band is a musical group which comes from the farming culture of nineteenth century Scotland. At that time agriculture was relatively labour-intensive. Patrick Street was one of the many Irish traditional bands of the 1980s, formed in Dublin in 1986 by Kevin Burke (formerly of The Bothy Band) on fiddle, Jackie Daly (De and Open House. Burke was last in Eugene in March as part of the Celtic Fiddle Festival at the WOW.
